Unhappy Back Again

Hi all,

I was sober for nearly a year and decided that I could drink occasionally. Now it's nearly 3 years later. I'm off work with depression - AGAIN, My latest boyfriend has left me for drinking too much - AGAIN, I've been too exhausted to enjoy Christmas - AGAIN.

I can't believe that I'm back to square one and I'm trying to find the courage to start again.

All we can do is focus on today, you've seen in the past with a year of sobriety that things do get better with time. Have faith and read through posts here today. You're not alone! We're all doing what we can to stay sober today.

Hi VioletMae. I've been in your shoes before. Thinking that after a period of enforced abstinence (I was pregnant) that I could return to responsible drinking. It just didn't work and I ended up worse than I had been before.

You can do this but stick close to support. It is just one day at a time. Sometimes, it's just one hour at a time. We get through it.

Welcome back VioletMae!!

For me continuing to do the same things continued to deliver the same results, I too went round and round the alcohol merry-go-round for years, but nothing changes if nothing changes.

You can do this, you can finally draw a line under the misery alcohol is causing!!

Glad you are back Violet Mae. What helped you to stay sober in the past? I have struggled with remaining sober in the past as well, I am close to a year, and this site has been y biggest support. I read and post in here daily, and it helps me to remain active in my remain active in my recovery. The 24 hour thread and January 2016 class have both been great sources of support for me. Spend some time reading, and posting, and see what you can add to your recovery toolbox.

You can do this!!!
