60 Days Today
So relieved I am sober for the holidays, as I did see this time of year coming soon 60 days ago and knew then was the time to act. Spending Xmas eve with my family without my husband (he is working but coming later on) and spending Xmas with my inlaws. Sort of relieved that my husband will not be there tonight for the bulk of the time because he has caused my family so much pain because of his active alcohol addiction. I don't really care if he causes that same drama at his family tomorrow since they don't seem to care about his addiction anyways, so, as my sister put it, let him "cause trouble over there but not here anymore." Overall, I'm doing well with work and taking care of myself. I am thrilled to have lost 15 of the 20 pounds I was motivated to lose with sobriety. Happy holidays to all!!!

Thanks everyone. Well, Christmas Eve at my parent's house went well. We had a nice, relaxing time. Tomorrow will be the big day at my inlaws with lots of drinking. I am bringing my puppy, who will be my sober companion for the day.

Just got back from Christmas at my inlaw's house. My goal was to try and stay positive throughout the day, help out when I could, try to not take things personally and to just breathe if I felt stressed out. I feel like I was able to do all of these things and made it through the day sober. There were a few comments that I do believe had some antagonistic agenda behind them, but I simply told myself, "Don't react to that comment and diminish my serenity for the day. If someone does not approve of me or the choices I make, that is okay, as I can't expect everyone to like or approve of me. Just continue to breathe and be of service in a way I feel comfortable, and I will remain happy."

Wonderful! I started from the beginning of your thread and hearing a good and hopeful plan....so glad to read through as you updated on the two days!! Great job and really sound thinking.
and- love the puppy as sober companion. They are so useful for so much, aren't they?!
Best to you for continued sobriety and growth in the new year.

Thank you all. All of your support has really helped me. Glad I got through these past two days, especially yesterday with my inlaws. Now I can relax until my husband's family celebrates his 40th birthday in late February.
