Almost one year sober
Almost made it to one year sober! (Dec 27th). I write and journal to help maintain my sobriety. I've always loved writing but rarely have shared it due to lack of confidence. Sober, I've become much more confident. So I'm sharing something I wrote with you all which I'm sure some of you will relate to.

Alcoholic
Stigma needs to change
Hiding inside
Not letting anyone
In
Embarrassed.
Too ashamed
To ask for help
Too ashamed
To admit the addiction
To someone else
To yourself
One more drink
Buries the thoughts
Leads to one more
Bottles empty
Levels you empty
Numb
Alcoholic?
Deny
Deny the thought
Push it away
Not me.
Emotionally vacant
Depressed
Something needs to
Change
I'm an alcoholic
Time to change the stigma
Speak up
Can't keep quiet
No need to feel ashamed
No need to feel alone
Pick each other up
Inspire each other
Sober.

Congrats on your upcoming year anniversary Leasha, that's a tremendous accomplishment. That's a very thoughtful piece you've written, and it hits home. I think you should definitely share some more!

I love what you wrote Leisha! I also like to journal, my friend has turned me onto bullet journaling, it is a great way for those of us who still like to write in the digital age.
A friend sent me this link this morning, and it has inspired me to write a letter to alcohol to commemorate my one year which will be January 1st. Thanks for leading the way for those of us in the January class!
