Living Life in Control

We can't control everything. Having Control is an illusion in many aspects of life. But we can control what we ingest into our bodies right? I loved the buzz I got from my first few drinks of alcohol, followed by an overwhelming desire to play my guitar and sing all of my favorite irish folk songs my mother taught me. I really felt that the music was more emotional with the drink. When I quit for a year, I don't remember playing the guitar much, but now, I am getting those same feelings because I have learned that it is the music that I loved. Music and Booze seem to go well together. It's like an amicable divorce now. I know I can have a drink and not start binge drinking, but the chance I could have too much is not worth taking a chance.

That's great. I am a huge music lover (listening, not playing) and music plays a big part in my recovery.

I went from an OK scrappy kinda player to a good one when I put the booze down - it was like a whole other level

Playing sober can take some getting used to, but it sure is better than sitting down on a drum throne before third set and realizing you're now too drunk to play.
