Still here....

Hi all at SR. Just dropping in to wish all a wonderful weekend.

Yesterday was day 8 for me and what a miracle! Considering I cannot recall the last day I went without drinking. SR (and a Higher Power) started this journey for me, when I lay in bed, drunk and in despair, not believing I could even go a day without my toxic friend (emphasis on toxic).

I have stayed very close to AA and it has been a Godsend, I am learning to pray and to my utter disbelief, I can say that this prayer helps immensely.

It has been an exhausting 8 days, not much sleep, cravings to get through, many epiphanies (not all easy to swallow) and many reminders that I am only learning to crawl so stop trying to run, but it has also been joyous and I have found new energy that stays with me all day. I smile and laugh more and I have time, energy and kindness for others (I had lost this part of me). I am 'present' in my life.

Writing this helps to reinforce to me the simple wonders I have already gained in such a short time, it reminds me why I do not need or want to drink today. I have already gained much that I do not want to lose.

Thanks for listening and love to all xx

Hi cropduster,

Thank you and well done on 3 days!

At my third AA meeting and day 4 for me I shared at the group I was only on day 4. A gorgeous, long time sober, elderly gentleman came to speak with me afterwards and, wagging his finger in gentle admonishment, said 'don't ever say 'only' in front of me, ever day without drinking is a gift' and he is right

You only have to get through today, and if thats tough, break it down to hours or minutes if you have to.

Get to AA if you haven't already.

My new motto is 'Whatever it takes'.

I wish you strength and remember, post, post, post!

xx
