anxiety

I get off work in 40 minutes. The anxiety is strong right now. I know it will pass. I will go straight home, pick up the dogs and go for a walk. Just like planned.

I'm trying hard to be strong today. Day 1 will be / is the hardest.

Common in early withdrawal. But you have to get past it if sobriety is the goal. The walk should help.

So should eating and a sweet treat. Stay strong.

I am 50 days sober today.

Walking or any kind of movement helps.

During the first few days of my sobriety I walked a lot, paced the house, walked up and down the flight of stairs to my basement, anything to keep moving and burn adrenaline.

stay close to us. Take your walk, maybe get some yummy waters, I like flavored water, hot tea, coffee...When i first got sober I always had a drink in my hand non alcoholic of course lol!
take a bath, take a nap, do some reading....go to amazon and buy some recovery books for your kindle ( comes with purchase download free), do some typing on your computer or write down all of the reasons why you want to stop drinking, reflect back to it anytime you think about going and getting some booze. Pray, breathe, meditate. Call a friend you havent spoken to or couldnt in the evening cuz you were drunk and slurring your words lol.
Binge on some netflix, eat a sweet goodie or ten haha!

So many things to do, just dont pick up NO MATTER WHAT!

Have a great night!

As soon as I got my strength back (about Day 4) I cleaned my house one room at a time. It kept me moving and psychologically "cleaned out" all the junk in my mind and reorganized my thoughts. Then I did a whole day of laundry. I made a whole new start for myself.

I made it home safe and sound with no alcohol. My dinner is in the microwave and the dishwasher is loaded.

Still have anxiety, but I'm home and will not drink today. Thankfully I have Ativan left from last time I decided to quit. I'm going to take one before bedtime to help with withdrawals and the anxiety.

Thank you all for the support!!!

Sindy - during my first weeks of sobriety, my anxiety was awful as well. I did scales on guitar, played solitaire, adult colouring books, anything that distracted me. I also, and still do, ate loads of sweets.

I did that before I took the dogs to the bay for a walk. I knew it had to go asap!!! My apartment is alcohol free. ☺
