Vivid drinking dream. Almost 2 yrs sober.
Vivid drinking dream. Almost 2 yrs sober.
So these aren't exactly new. I've had a few in the past nearly 23 months sober.
But this one from last night was VIVID. It felt real. The whole bit...I was at a hotel (resort) a nice one...Somewhere tropical i think.
Hiding bottles in my room (laundry), under the mattress.
On auto-pilot the whole time. My Boss randomly checked in at the same resort and saw me...And was like...Hey you're on vacation here too?
I think that's partly my guilty conscious or something...My Boss has been a great support of my getting and staying sober.
Hate the feeling of waking out of these. I hadn't had one in awhile. The guilt/fear etc of feeling like you HAVE broken your sobriety is quite real.
Then the relief is good when you realize. It was ONLY a dream. I'm not back in the nightmare again. I'm sober.
I'm here. I'm alive.
Just needed to get that out. Thanks as always SR.
I'm not drinking today!

Wow, I was about to post about this sort of thing. I'm only on day 3, but I finally got some sleep, I had VIVID nightmares......not so much about alcohol. I usually experience the hiding the bottle dreams further on in sobriety. Last night, I had dream after dream about my loved ones, that I know I've hurt lately. It's such an unsettling feeling to start the day
Good to hear from you findingtheway
I never put much stock in those dreams meaning anything - I figure as long as I'm not drinking when I'm awake I'm doing ok
I haven't has a drinking one for a while but I still get vivid ones.

Drunk dreams don't destroy! Well , I have 'em sometimes. No rhyme or reason to them- except perhaps I used to drink. Yep they suck. A good reminder what the monster under the bed can be.
