That's awesome Rea11y! It begins with making new habits to replace old ones.

Great work! Adjusting the getting-home-from-work routine is important and a cup of tea sounds like a great way to unwind.

I've got my clothes and running shoes out and ready for when I get home. It'll get me out of the house and always clears my mind. Good stuff.

Keep up the tiny triumphs!

Tiny triumphs add up to a life of sobriety. I consider it a triumph to go to bed sober and wake up with no hangover every day. I'll never get tired of that.

In early days my triumph was not stopping for that happy hour drink after work. My car wanted to steer itself to the bar. I took control of the car, and took myself to the park for a walk, or to an AA meeting, or just home to cook a decent dinner instead. After some time, the urge to go "unwind" with a drink completely disappeared.

Keep it up, Rea11y. It really does get easier.

After several months of not drinking I found a half bottle of spiced rum under the backseat of one of my work trucks. Went straight into the garbage.

At times I was hiding my drinking and I'd find bottles in drawers, the trunk of a car, cupboards in the garage, under the bed in the guest room. My wife found one of my hiding spots one time....and I paid dearly.

every day sober is a triumph, dont have much just 3weeks, but in the afternoon/evening when cravings get harder I make tea - chamomile or peppermint. Also keeps me preoccupied with brewing and drinking it slowly.

A cup of hot tea is my go-to after work now too. Or iced tea in the summer. a small snack when I get home too. Just some nuts or a piece of cheese.

Fantastic Rea11y, great job on pushing through!!

For me today I made it to work driving in below zero temperatures with icey roads, it always stresses me out, but I made it to and from work, now settled in for the night with a pot of green tea!!

Sigh. Trigger day today. Tuesday. My nemesis ha ha.

Ok so hot juice when I get home I am not sure is going to cut it tonight. Let's....make a new plan....
Today I'm rejoicing in feeling fab when I woke even though I had to get up an hour before daylight. Whooshed into work on the bike. That felt good. Feel less wobbly in my fat bits hehe.

Haven't not drunk at least something for three days in a row for years so.... let's keep.that in mind tonight because I just want my skin to glow. That's worth just another day not drinking then we'll tackle tomorrow tomorrow.
But I'm not home yet. If I can just get through from 6pm-7pm then it'll be easy from there.

On the plus side I just signed up to a distance learning course on addiction therapy to go alongside my cognitive behavioural therapy studies.

I talked to my boyfriend (who I live with) and asked him to please stop talking about drinking and alcohol, because at the moment, just thinking about it makes me crave it.

Yep my housemate is great for that. She hid the wine. We have a shop next door though so doesn't help that much.

You can do it - can you think of something to do on your way home or after you get home to distract you from thoughts of drinking? Change your routine somehow - that always worked for me in the early days.
