I have kind of a long story, don't we all, but my main concern at the moment is that I seem to have been being attacked by a binge-eating monster. I'm an alcoholic, btw. Anyone else out there under attack? And, naturally, it's a sugar monster. And this time of year . . . you know. Thanks. Think I should change my user name. I'm not really a dumb brat. I'm a 65 year-old student of addiction counseling, who relapsed after 15 years of sobriety. Yeah, I know.
P.S. I just found out I'm stuck with dmbrat.

Hi dmbrat
If you want to change your name you can ask our Admin Anna (you'll need 5 posts to send a PM tho).
I think a lot of us discovered a sweet tooth after we quit. For a lot of us it faded, for others like me I have to work at it.

Hello DMBrat! Welcome to SR. Maybe cutting back a little each day on the sugar will help. I felt a little entitled to eat whatever I wanted the first month after I'd quit. In fairness, I'm not much of an eater - food had never been a big "thing" for me.
15 years is a long time to relapse. I am curious what happened - selfishly so I can learn from you, if you don't mind sharing your thoughts.
Have you quit now? Glad you have joined us :-)

.......and as a student of addiction counselling you will know that those 15 years have not been *lost*. A day, is a day, is a day.
I'm in the opposite camp in that I need to gain weight. Believe me, it's just as hard to put ON weight. Diet and exercise look the key.
