In a better place

Hi all,

After a very tough spell I feel much better mentally ,physically and spiritually . Ive been absent from SR but reading posts the past week .
Very happy to report i,m still sober ( 26 weeks ) .
Whats changed for me ? acceptance of what is and what i can or can't control . I was trying too hard to fix other people and didn't see my own mental health slipping . Ive joined the gym , eating better ,sleeping better, doing an online course on anxiety .

Wishing you all well and thank you all .

Nice to hear you're doing well!

'Fixing other people' is something I've tackled with as well, until coming to the conclusion that my sanity is more likely to stay intact when I finally adopted the 'be the change you want to see' approach.

Any reference for the online course perhaps? You can PM me.

I'm really glad you're back, and glad you are still on the sober side.

Yeah, people fixing. That's what got me into recovery the first time around in 1989. I couldn't fix 'em then, I can't fix 'em now.

Thank God. He's got this.

https://anxietycentre.com

This site after years of problem anxiety / panic / social anxiety is in my opinion the best resource on the internet . Theres so much information from people who have been through it . Its well run and if you want the best out of it you join the members area for a small subscription which is pennies really and so worth it . If you take your time and work through the sections and " do the work " you will benefit .

I went to an AA meeting with my son yesterday and to say it was emotional is the understatement of the year . For a long time I had been feeling guilt that I have passed my alcoholism to him but I have came to accept that facts are facts and its not always about me . Yesterday was his day and I am so proud of him for making that important first step . He spoke well when it came to his turn , he was made very welcome . We shed a tear on the drive home but tears of a positive nature .
I am pointing him in the direction of SR but wondering if we should know each others names here although it wouldn't be hard for him to guess mine .
