Newcomer whose not sober..am i allowed
Hi all, I don't want to hurt anyone but I still drink but want to kick it...a few things are happening that are pretty major in my life and my psychiatrist says it's not the right time to put too much on myself. I would love to hear from people that are sober as at the moment it's so enjoyable and I love it. Sorry
Hello Chilli, you are definitely welcome here. A lot of people first come here with the idea that they want stop but they take some time to find lasting sobriety. I have been a member here for a while, searching for lasting sobriety the whole time. I can tell you, my periods of sobriety are absolutely worth the struggles and I am exponentially more happy when not drinking.
Welcome to SR Chili!
Yes you are good to be here. Obviously we want to see you sober but I struggled for a long time starting and stopping and still coming here. I was able to finally stop. If I can you can I assure you.
Post often. Come here and ask for permission to drink. Be accountable.
I found so many strong and kind people and friends here. Hope you find the same.

Hello!
I've been on and off this website for ages because of drinking and you are more than welcome :-)
I'm newly sober after relapsing a few weeks ago and I certainly feel a lot better both physically and mentally.
It's great you're already getting help. I have a sober plan, like a toolbox to help me with my sobriety. It includes meetings, this website, writing, yoga etc. Might want to think about doing something like that to help you out

Welcome Chilli! You have come to the right place lots of support and lovely people. Many of us come here still on the grip of addiction (I joined in May and have 12 days sober this time and pray I keep it). In terms of mental health I would say getting sober is a massive factor so I hope you can put it down and start the road to sobriety. Take care xxx

Welcome.
Have you looked at threads in categories like Newcomers Daily Support Threads, and others meant for those brand new to sobriety or looking at making the choice to stop drinking? Alcoholism 12 Step Support might be another good one.
I hope you choose to stop drinking and give SR, and IRL program and a new life a chance. Drs are important, IMO and IME, and the right ones are the key. Good luck.

Welcome to SR. If your alcoholism follows the trajectory of most of us, the joy and fun will last for a period of time and in the end, it is hell on earth. I hope you are able to avoid that as I would not wish that on anyone. Best wishes to you.
