Book suggestions

Trying to keep busy today. Bought a journal today and the book Wild.

I used to read all the time, hard to do drunk.

I was hoping to get some good book recommendations. They can be recovery books, fiction, non-fiction, etc.

It's a good feeling getting lost in a good book.

Thanks!!

I think Bill Bryson's A Walk in the Woods has truly universal appeal. Informative, interesting, funny -- and happens to have an addiction/recovery angle as well.

It's an easy read and shouldn't take too long to finish.

Happy (sober) reading!

I loved 'Wild'! What an amazing story! I hope you enjoy it.

And, do check out the Book List that PK posted. Personally, I love the biography/memoirs the most.

My favourite 'drinking' books (lol) are Dry by Augusten Burroughs and Blackout by Sarah Heppola.

Funny enough, I have returned to reading a lot more since I've been sober. A Secret History by Donna Tartt and A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara are two I read recently - they're both super long which I like because it keeps me busy for longer before I have to look for a new book to read, if that makes sense?

Have you read any of Zadie Smith's books? She's one of my favourite authors and she has a new novel coming out on the 15th November which I'm really excited for.
