Forum question

Good morning,
Sometimes when I write a long post or take a break while writing, the forum, or my phone will require me to log in again. After logging back on everything I had written is gone. Can I change a setting on my phone or in my forum settings to correct this? Thanks for any help. have a great and sober day everyone

I'm not sure about phones but there's a little 'remember me' box beside where I log in...when thats ticked, I've never been logged out Matt?

I sometimes type a post, if it's going to be a long one on a word or notpad app on my phone/laptop . . . then copy it across . . . just in case the internet gods hate me that particular day!!

Yeah, Dee, I wish that was true for me.

I've been "remembered" since day one, but sometimes I get logged out anyway. I don't think it has anything to do with SoberRecovery, but more to do with router/modem/internet connectivity. The best solution for me is to do what PurpleKnight does.

...or just not be so verbose

Say, anyone know why my Thumb's Up doesn't work?

It just flips my screen to the top of the site.

Regrettably, I've been unable to commend many fine posts.

Thank you.

100% of the time I'm logged out everytime I'm not active for any length of time.

Technically speaking it will be based on the server settings that determines how long your session stays alive (or possibly something in the forum software doing the same.) Not much you can do about it. So never abandon a post mid writing I best advice.

I've noticed a little workaround that sometimes works on iOS (I'm using an iPad but iPhone should be the same). If you leave a page when you're logged in, and then come back to it sometime later, IF Safari does not reload the page when you open it, then go to a page where you must be logged in (eg click user cp top left and go subscribed threads) this can have the effect to renew your old session.

Bear in mind that if you run your browser in private mode, then your login is confined to that specific tab.

I'm going to try 'copy' whenever I leave my draft.

Then just 'paste' it back if needed.

Oh, I just logged in and my Thumb's Up still doesn't work.

. . .

I used to think this was the case, too.

But recently (since I have a new ISP) I have left tabs open for hours and not gotten logged off - then on the other hand have been logged off in the middle of writing a post.

I no longer have any idea what I'm talking about.

I haven't had this problem in a while but, it was happening to me a while back.

I started making copies of my longer posts or threads, just incase they got lost, which for a time many were. If it's something long copy to an email so if needed later easy to pull back up and paste.

Say, does this site automatically log in name and password for some users?

My setup does for other sites.

Thanks

I don't get logged out.

I highly recommend the copy and paste for anything longish or when you will be stopping mid-post. It's so frustrating to put down your thoughts and then have them vanish.

Never been logged out in more than two years , though there have been times when I wished my comments would disappear.

haha, Endgame. Ain't that the truth?! Dangit - stuff will be here for sooooo long.

Every once in a while I'll stumble on some post I made and think - "Hm. Do not remember that."

Sometimes I cringe before I hit post.

And bim I do the same thing. Read things I posted. Know I was sober. Remember not.
