Day 1

I can't live this way anymore. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. Too many years of this foolishness. Always depressed, mad, sick. So many missed opportunities because of this poison- that I fed myself. Today has to begin with change. I need to hold myself accountable. I'm the only one who can make this happen. I'm so grateful for this site and all of you.

Welcome to SR and good luck!

There's really only one thing you can do, and that's to simply stop using whatever said poison is. (it sounds a lot easier than it is but you'll find lots of supporting folks around here).

Hello and Welcome to SR!

It's great that you are here this morning. The first few days can be a little tough, but they definitely get easier so hang in there.

Spend some time reading on SR and also pop into the October 2016 thread, you will find others who have also decided to stop drinking/using this month.

Dee should be along to share a great link about recovery plans.

Stick around here today for support. You can do this, and I promise it is worth it!

Welcome SR. My first few days I read or posted here everyday, especially during the times in the evening when I would normally be drinking. I really found great strenght and inspiration from the " stories of recovery" forum. We are here if you need us.

Welcome to SR...
This is great that you made up your mind. Stay strong.
Write whenever you feel like giving up. And if you decide to give up just remember why you are trying to quit in the first place..
Good luck

Welcome to SR and well done for joining. There are thousands and thousands of us here that all want the same thing as you do.

I was on day 1 two weeks ago. Take it one day at a time and you will see it starts getting better very quickly.

Yes, you do need to hold yourself accountable. Ultimately, it's up to each of us to make the decision to stop drinking and to live a sober life. As your user name says, have faith that you can do this and we are here to offer support.

Great to have you with us, IHaveFaith. I was so relieved when I joined SR - I was no longer alone with my struggle.

It's ironic that the thing we use to make ourselves feel better ends up causing such misery & pain. What was once fun completely ruled my life in the end. I was so thankful to get free of it. You will do this.

Hi ChloeRose,
Today I have hope. I'm heading out for an early walk. Have been taking vitamins and lemon water. I have to do it this time at have another day 1. When I get home, I'm going to put a plan together.

Sounds perfect! I drank lots of coconut water. It has electrolytes and also lowers blood pressure. I get bouts of anxiety and it calms my nerves along with calming teas. First step is to identify your triggers. Did you ever hear of "H.A.L.T"?
