Being 40 and now

I think I just got to the point where I am saying to myself I dont want to let this beat me anymore. Whatevers in the past, the future, the root cause, the complexity, the million other factors, Im going to beat this and find some freedom and dignity. Felt like posting that cause some times you got to just be simple. The cards are in our hands. Imagine contemplating a beer or two tonight. Is 25 years not enough proof. What is the probability the risk it will end up badly. Can you stop after two. What we got to lose, who are we going to hurt.... We got everything to lose, everything.
I'll take the dose of dignity please.
Im concentrating on now.

Probably bantering....But

Yep.

Keep It Simple.

1. Don't pick up alcohol and put it in your pie hole. That's where pie goes.

2. Everything else will take care of itself with a little personal insight, Time, and #1.

If I remember correctly, we share the same birthdate Vman so I can certainly relate. He we are at the same point in life trying to beat the same demon. Let's make our 40's the best years of our life

40's as well here with you guys....... Don't know how it took 20 years to figure out I needed to stop the madness but I have no intention of turning back! Have a great sober evening.

Not bantering at all, Vman.

Would love to go back and reclaim my 40's. Was still desperate to control it back then. Went on another decade with horrific results. Proud of those who wised up far earlier than I did - you won't have the regrets & remorse many of us do.

Took me until age 44 to do what I started thinking about doing 15 years ago.

Just turned 44 and got sober at 43 (March 15 2016) so I get it. Can't turn back time on ANYthing, including on this stupid, relentless thing we fight - gone are the days when a drink (one?! Lol one) would do the trick.

All you guys are smarter than me. 52 years old and drank away the last fourteen years. What a waste.

Wow. I've never thought of it like that but it's so true. Thanks for that.
