Sober Sr. Night!

Last Wed. I made a rash decision to dump out mt AH's stash of wine. I was worried that it would backfire on me. But my AH stayed sober for the weekend so far, we still have the Browns game to go.. I regret that I was unable to stay detached. He has said nothing to me about the wine (It was black box tetra 500 ml in cartons. I dumped out half of each one and replaced with water) I have said nothing to him about it.

So he has been sober since Wed. It has been peaceful in the house.

Part of me wants to continue 'being his shadow' not letting him go to the grocery store alone. He doesn't have any withdrawal symptoms. I know the minute he is alone he will buy more and the calm we currently have will be destroyed. But shadowing him is not calm either. He supresses his anger at me tagging along but its there.

This is NOT a viable long-term solution. You shouldn't be the "booze police," and if he wants to drink he'll find a way to do it. Keep this up, and you'll be ready for the loony bin, yourself.

And I doubt he was "sober"--he may not have been drunk (which is good), but that's not the same as being sober. Hope the rest of your weekend is peaceful.

Glad it worked out although we all know it isn't a great solution long term.

If I remember correctly, you had a long term plan. Hope you keep this lined up and heading you forward.

Let us know how things go!
