I can't get off the Merry Go Round

I haven't posted for a while as nothing has changed.
I am still drinking heavily, on average 75cl of vodka a day sometimes more.
Drinking now is taking up 90% of my thinking, I sleep in shifts wake up and drink. I live alone and am becoming increasingly lonely and depressed.
I have been to a alcohol support centre, AA and now have a dual diagnosis counsellor that I see once a fortnight.
In the UK it is very difficult to get detox or medication to help with withdrawals
I am at my witts end and planning my first drink of the day, it is only 6.50am.
If nothing else I hope this post helps people see just how bad things can get.

I'm not sure how long you went to the alcohol centre, or AA or the dual diagnosis Counsellor, but I think you need to stick with as many things as you can right now Kaily.

If you want change you need to start making different decisions.
It would be great if you decide dto work through the cravings and make today day one.

If you feel you need medical help to detox you're going to have to start to be the squeaky wheel and really agitate for as much help as you can get.

If it's very difficult to get professional assistance then you need to make louder more insistent entreaties for help.

You can get off, you just haven't done it yet. Don't wait for something awful to happen. Quit now. You'll be glad you did.

Hi Kaily,

Maybe a silly question but have you pressured your GP for help?

If you've been refused, perhaps ask to see a different GP, don't take no for an answer.

Hi tufty.

Yes the GP referred me to the alcohol services but they wouldn't allow me a detox due to living on my own...hence why I feel like I am on a merry go round, I go everywhere I am sent but get nowhere and achieve nothing.
I see my GP at least once a month asking for help.

Hi Kaily,

Please consider dumping any booze down the drain...let this be day 1. If you start to get bad with symptoms, isn't there an emergency room option near you? I feel your pain and am hoping you can find a solution today.

Stay close to SR...Lot's of help here!

You can take action. Stop drinking right now. Be careful and be prepared to go to an ER if necessary. Don't buy anymore alcohol and fight through the cravings. That's how it becomes a bit easier. You can do this!

I believe previously someone in the UK recommended you go to a different hospital, and even said which one. I believe it was in London where you are. Have you tried a different GP or hospital?
