Hey, everybody.
My name is Josh. I'm 37. I've drank at least 8 beers every day for 17 years. I've only drank twice in the last month. I've been completely sober for 2 weeks.
When do the headaches stop? When does the anxiety and dizziness go away? I don't wanna take drugs for this. I have the worst sinus headaches imaginable right now.
Thanks for any advice.

Hi Josh! Welcome to SR ... this is a great site
I think everyone's experience quitting alcohol is different. Sometimes the anxiety for me has lasted weeks or months and other times it has almost gone in days. But that isn't to say I didn't get any improvement at all even if it took awhile. If you are two weeks sober I assume you are over the acute withdrawal but even so it isn't a good idea to mess around with an alcohol detox by yourself very much ... it can be very dangerous and often medical help is absolutely necessary. If I were you I'd just try and look after yourself as best you can (eat well, drink plenty of fluids). B vitamins and magnesium helped me a lot.
Now I am newly sober myself so I can't claim to be an expert by any means but I have quit and started again many times so I've been through withdrawal countless times. The good news is that is DOES get better.

Your headaches might not be related to getting sober. Give yourself some more sober time to see if they get better. If they don't, see your doctor. Congrats on two weeks sober! Keep going, it gets better.
Hi Josh and welcome
I think everyone's different - and it depends on how long you've been drinking and when your last drink was.
I'd hope you'll start to feel better now if it's been two weeks without any alcohol at all, but I'm not a Dr. and your mileage may vary

Hello and Welcome Josh. Just remember....... You've been drinking a long time, it might take a little while for your body and mind to feel better. It could be a few weeks, or a few or more months. Keep up the good work. Your body is doing amazing things inside for you to heal.
Congrats on 2 weeks.... You're on your way!!
