Amazing article I keep reading over and over again.
Hi, SR friends.
I am sure the post related to the article I am going to talk about is hidden somewhere among lots of other valuable posts on this forum.
I've tried to find it but couldn't.
So I thought it won't be too much of a cyber-crime if I post it again.
The article is "10 overlooked truths about taking action".
10 Overlooked Truths About Action
Though it is written from a businessman's point of view, it can be applied to any area of the life, including recovery from addiction.
The article is so good, with so intense concentration of gems per paragraph that I could highlight every line there.
I re-read it regularly, but I don't think that regularly enough.
Because every time I read it and see that gems again I think "Darn. How could I forget about that? It's so simple, and is so true!"
There are some lines so I would like to highlight here - for anyone who is struggling with some life issue (myself including, going through nasty ordeal with banks), and especially for those who are in early recovery, or probably just considering quitting for good.
"You don’t need to know if it will work (you probably can’t know), you need to try and find out.
Your obstacles are yours to face. It doesn’t matter how they compare to the obstacles in history or those of your peers. It’s a waste of time to consider anything except how you will overcome them."
Today I've printed out this line "You don’t need to know if it will work (you probably can’t know), you need to try and find out. and pinned to the wall near my desk. Because it is something I can't remind myself enough.
Thinking, overthinking, overcontemplating, overmeditating, counting pros and cons...Nothing beats the action.
And a little bit more:
"Taking action creates possibilities that didn’t exist before.
We always look out at our future from the place we’re standing. Yet we forget that this is only one spot.
The trick is to keep trying. That next step might be the key to a better future — you just can’t see around the corner yet."
I hope you will enjoy the read - it's really worth it!
Have a great day, SR friends.

Some good stuff there MidnightBlue. Doing nothing is scarier than doing nothing. A small measure of control over our destiny is all we need usually. That is why doing something, instead of just passively not drinking, for example can improve our chances of staying sober
Happy Birthday Snarly
