Codependent No More

Has anyone read this book? I just started a newer version of it last night, The New Codependency. Any thoughts on it?

Oh, Cocoloco, that is like the Bible around here!

Good for you for finding it on your own. There is a thread called "The Language of Letting Go" here featuring daily readings from the book of the same name by Melody Beattie, the same woman who wrote "Codependent No More" and a number of other books.

Check it out: http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...-part-1-a.html

Also, if you haven't checked out the stickies yet, there is a list of reading materials that members have found helpful there.

In case you don't know what or where the stickies are, this thread will help: http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...newcomers.html

I have read Codependency No More and loved it. (At one point in my life I read it a lot over and over again - irk).

I haven't read The New Codependency. How is it? Would you recommend it?

Read it like 5 Times! It speaks to you quickly. Very, very quickly. Ive tried to convince my mother to read it for years... to no avail. Of course, because she is "so busy" tending to others.

Haha! I think that's pretty much what happened to most of us here.

We show up trying to figure out how to help our qualifiers, get told we need to read it, and finish the book thinking - wholly cow, I had no idea I had these issues! I'm sicker than said qualifier!
