15 months but each Day/Hour/Minute is significant
Had 15 months sober yesterday.
Very grateful for that, but this has only been doable through help and support and the willingness to embrace the two.
Though its been this period of time, each moment is very important that I've been sober. I view it this way because it only takes a moment to decide to drink and that moment could be a life defining one if acted upon.
Every day, hour and minute is precious to me. It may seem extreme to some to view it that way but after drinking the way I did I cannot take any moment lightly.
AA, SR, The big book, counselling, Higher Power, prayer, mediation, other readings, etc. Whatever you feel you need to do to maintain your sobriety do it and don't be ashamed or embarrassed. The risk of not doing what you feel you need to do to keep sober is too high. It could cost you your life.
A special prayer to anyone struggling. We all care about your sobriety and you having a better life free from the pits of addiction.
15 months is a victory for all the help that I've gotten from everyone. I was just along for the ride.
