Im ok
Today was a good day. I still cry constantly, but today I got to visit my son at college for TCU's family weekend. My heart was just overflowing with love and pride. And I was so grateful that I wasn't hungover or numb from drinking. All the feelings, good and bad, are overwhelming. But that's ok. Today I'm sober and I'm ok.
Next week I start an Intensive Outpatient Program. 3 and a half hours after work, 3 nights a week, for 24 weeks. Scary but I'm hoping it will help me really dig deep and give me a solid foundation for some lasting sobriety. If I don't do this I am certain I won't live long enough to see that amazing young man of mine graduate from college.

Great post, Eliasson. You must be so proud of your son
And yes, your son, and YOU, need you healthy and sober.
Well done on doing the Intensive Outpatient.
I wish you the best of luck and hope to see more of your posts

You're doing the right thing.
As proud as you are of your son, he will be equally proud of you for taking this step. Three of my kids are in college as well (freshmen) and while they don't talk about it, I know they're thrilled that I order iced tea instead of wine when we go out to eat.
You can do this! We're all here to cheer you on. If you have the energy, please post and let us know how the program is and how you're doing.
