Grrrr...

Bummer. I drank last night. I don't know what I was thinking. I guess my alcoholic mind won when it said, "It's Saturday. Take a break from sobriety and have some beer." And so I did. I bought a six-pack, but only drank four. But of course I couldn't let "precious booze" go to waste, so I finished the rest tonight. But I'm more mad at myself than anything. Thankfully, I don't want any more beer and have no desire to get drunk. I'm planting my rear end back in the AA meetings tomorrow night. Tomorrow will be day one. Does today count if I'm not drunk at all though? Eh, I'll just call tomorrow day one. I'm so disappointed in myself. :banghead:

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Phil.4:13
AA meetings, the steps AND ask for that strength when you feel weak.

Now dust off and start tomorrow morning with a smile. You can do it.

Lilalke,

Sorry you drank, you must remember that you are poweless over alcohol until you admit that you do not have control you will continue to research "drink", so my advice, don't consume alcohol, the result will be the same ALWAYS. When you spend to much time between your ears that voice will convience you to drink, the longer you go without alcohol "POISON" in your system the more that voice fades. Call your sponser when you get in that situation again. Take it one day at a time, do not look to far ahead in the future.

I will pray for you

Lilalke,

You must try, try and try. You'll succeed at last. You can get this if you want it more than anything and do the necessary things to get it. You were certainly correct when you said it was your alcoholic mind telling you to "take a break from sobriety." There is no such thing and the your new recovering alcohlic mind knows this is true. Here's one of my silly non-AA recovery quotes for you:
Miyagi : [sighs] Daniel-san, must talk. Man walk on road. Walk left side, safe. Walk right side, safe. Walk down middle, sooner or later, get squished
[makes squish gesture]
Miyagi : just like grape. Same here. You karate do "yes," or karate do "no." You karate do "guess so,"
[makes squish gesture]
Miyagi : just like grape. Understand?

Miyagi, "The Karate Kid"
Jah Bless

Please don't place any guilt upon yourself for having a temporary setback. It happens!!

Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and continue your fight knowing that we are all here for you.
You ARE worth it!

Hey, hon'! Try not to beat yourself up too much. You are on the right track getting right back in to recovery. Many people go back out and don't return for a very long time. Next time that little voice tells you it's okay to drink, fight it by calling another alcoholic, posting here, or going to a meeting. You CAN do this. You are in my prayers.

Hugs--

Be gentle with yourself.
It sounds like the oppposite of what "should" be done, but when we beat up on ourselves we can make things worse. When we are gentle with ourselves we give ourselves the nurturing we need -- and then we are less likely to use again.

So you had a slip....
learn what you can from it and get past it.... let it go.
getting right back in the saddle is what is important and it sounds like that is what you are doing.

Hic-Cups are curable, so long as you reailze you can never take a break from sobriety. I'm glad you were one of the lucky ones to make it back! *hugs*

Yea! I did it! I didn't drink tonight, although I consumed four cups of coffee to compensate and now I'm a bit jittery, lol! Thanks for the support and encouragement. When I took the first sip of that beer on Saturday night, I immediately thought, "What the heck am I doing?" and although my recovering brain said, "Get the beer out of the house. Give it to a non-alcoholic friend to drink!" I ignored it and said, "Why waste my money?" But I am very thankful that my slip-up didn't turn into a six-month relapse like last time. And the good news is, I got a call today from someone who wants to hire me, so now I have a job to keep me out of the house and away from drinking. I'm glad I'm back. Yea for me!

I proud of you see you can do it one night at a time, keep going to the AA meetings, live in the solution not the problem.
