Small Miracles
Small Miracles
Today is my fifth day sober and I used to be a three to four bottle a day wine drinker. Since I could not be worried with corks, corkscrews, etc. I would usually by screw tops. Last week, I pretty much stayed drunk daily but I kept noticing a scraping on my tongue. I tried looking in the mirror to figure out what it was (with double vision no doubt). I was afraid I was going to have to see a dentist and I don't have insurance.
Tonight as I was going through my nightly routine I was still trying to figure out what the scraping was. Then it hit me...I would open the bottles with my teeth because I was too drunk to open them with my hands after a while.
I don't have to see a dentist because it's just a very tiny chip and not noticeable. It's just annoying to me. Thank God for the small things. I don't have to spend money I really don't have.

Another small miracle today (day 6 yesterday) - when I took the trash to the curb, there were no wine bottles in it! I didn't have to hide any bottles, use paper bags or anything like that.
I'm so thankful for the short time of sobriety I have. This small step just gives me the encouragement to keep going.
