It's over.. For now
So those of you that don't know my story, it is in my original comments in case you're interested. But long story short- alcoholic abusive ex husband and we have a young child together. I have been fighting in court nearly monthly on 3 different cases (protective order, custody, child support) and all the appeals that come with it. My life hinged on every court date worrying he will get his suspended visitation back. We had a big appeal coming up and 6 weeks before, after a supposed 1 year of sobriety and 9 months months not seeing his toddler daughter- he was arrested again for public intox.
And finally the court got it. Protective order for my daughter and I. I'm still getting used to not living every day based on my next court case and worrying if he'd take her from daycare with no protection.
It came at a could time because I was buckling at the knees with exhaustion. I feel sad, happy, grateful, exciting, and still broken. But healing. I mostly lurk here. But I thought it might be nice to hear that these good things can happen when you fight and finally someone listens.

Hi, bluebird! I was traveling when you posted, so I missed this. So, so happy for you and your daughter!
I know how incredibly frustrating it can be to feel like nobody in the system can HEAR you. I'm glad it didn't take one of you getting hurt for you to get the protection you need.
Sometimes you just gotta keep plugging away--glad it finally paid off for you!

It's been a few months since you shared this but I am new to SR and looking around and found your post and... Wow. I do know what you are feeling... I went through 7 years of court stuff when my ex husband tried to make me look terrible, all the while, in his ballpark, there were DUIs, etc... it is so very hard to wake up every day in this situation... it definitely takes it's toll, doesn't it??
I am happy for your and your daughter. Rest easy, Mama and enjoy that baby!
