First day of sobriety today - wish me luck
I've been drinking nearly two bottles of wine a day for nearly 10 years now.... having 'tappered' back over the past few weeks, I'm ready to quit. I'm in last chance saloon with my marriage, and my health I reckon.
Here goes, not sure what to expect but I have to do this!!

Have you experienced any withdrawal and how did you taper?
Thx

Hi JP,
I cut back a little each week (litteraly one glass less each time). For the past few days I have been down to half a bottle of wine each day..
I'm craving real bad just now, also getting anxious and jittery. Its time to eat I think to try and block this out.

You're not shackled to not drinking, you're free from drinking

Welcome berty. You'll find a lot of help and support here. Also, it's you're lucky day. Luck has nothing to do with staying sober. You have 100% control over it.
Welcome - good news, luck has nothing to do with sobriety. Making a decision, working a plan of action and a willingness to change don't happen like the flip of a coin.
All of us here reached a point where sobriety became less painful than the lives we were leading. If you are ready anyone is capable.

Welcome Berty
There's a lot of support and advice here.
Withdrawal can be rough - they are for nearly everyone - so if you're worried please do check in with a Dr.
Hopefully you'll start feeling better in a day or two

Thanks for all the words of encouragement everyone!!! It means a lot to know that others have successfully navigated this difficult journey I begin.
Withdrawing a lot today as its day 2... Nothing I can't handle though. I'm still praying that I've made this decision in time to save my marriage. Time will tell.
Good luck to all the other newbies on here...
