First timer

Hi, first time iv'e done anything like this before in my life. I'm 47 years old been drinking since the age of 13, not a huge drinker during the week average 3/4 bottle of red a night but weekends seem to end up as a binge. Need to get out of this habit asap so planning on September the 5th as my stopping day.

Is there a significance about Sept 5 as your 'quit date'?

Just wondering because I saw a pattern in myself to set dates and then oopsie, Id miss the date and then again...ooopsie, missed it again lol! When I decided to get sober, I just did it, THAT day. Some future date just never came for me and usually as I worked up the date I could find ways or reasons to put it off, for just another day, another week, until after such and such event...just never worked for me.

I get it now. Nowhere near as bad as I thought but now is a good time to stop

Great to meet you hookey. I'm glad you're taking a serious look at how drinking is impacting your life. If you're uncomfortable with the way things are going, that's a good reason to quit.

seems theres a few days before sept 5,particularly today, that would be more ASAP than sept 5.

Hi, Hookey!! Welcome!! What a great idea to quit drinking. The benefits are overwhelming. I say start in the morning! August 26th is a wonderful sober date.
