I did it.
So my wife went out of town for 10 days and I did not drink. I actually felt a sense of pride in doing so. It was the biggest test to date of my commitment.
I apologize for not being as active on the forum as much anymore. I read everyday, but I guess I don't have much to contribute. I think I have adjusted to my new life and of course I'm busy getting started in my new career. License # was issued 2 days ago, so its official. I am past the white knuckling stage and am simply focused on other things. Still on my health kick which helps and working again also helps.
Enough about me, I hope everyone is doing well, although I see some are struggling and that's what this forum is all about (in my opinion). I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, and regarding the Olympics...go USA!

Nice work Jeff. I have to admit you were sounding a bit sketchy when you were posting about it early on ( when she first left ) and I was worried. Very glad you were able to stay sober.

I should maybe modify my OP when I said I felt "proud". It wasn't so much a sense of pride as it was a feeling of appropriateness. I acted responsibly. I made my meals, did my dishes, took care of the dog, filled the bird feeder, watered and picked the tomatoes, made my bed everyday. Didn't leave the toothpaste and shaving cream on the sink counter. Worked out and even did a couple loads of laundry. Ya know....stuff normal people do. That's a more accurate way of explaining it.
Great work, Jeff! I've been less active for similar reasons... focussing on real life issues, but SR remains such a valuable place. Full of good supportive people, like you. We struggle, we get back on track, and we have successes to be proud of (like you have) .
Great, Jeff! I think it's perfectly fine to be proud making it through a time historically challenging for us. But I get what you are saying.
Now you have a "sober reference" for your wife's annual trip (I think from courage2 is where I first heard the phrase).
