Slipped and now some money's gone
Slipped and now some money's gone
I had just over two months sober. I then went out last week and to cut a long story short I ended up starting drinking at 10pm at night and then in the early hours of the morning I was with a couple who persuaded me to take some money out of the bank. There was a promise of some sex and I was drunk. I did get some money out and we didn't have any sex. I ended up waking up in a hotel room the next day wondering what happened to me. I am now terrified of checking what's happened to my bank account because of fear and shame. I am just hoping that by breaking my silence over this I will be able to get over the horror and do something about it.

Sorry that happened to you, but probably the best that can happen for you now is to learn from it and add it to the reasons not to drink.
Actually, a similar thing happened to me several years ago, but I was luckier than you and managed to get my wits about me and realized something wasn't right, and got out of there. I won't go into detail, but it was a pretty scary situation.
Hope your bank account wasn't affected and you didn't lose too much. John

"slipped" seems to minimize it,imo. it was one of them relapses that can end with a drink, imo. the thought kf a drink started way before last week.
you want to do something about it- good!
now, what actions are you going to do?

"ended up drinking"
how about we take the passive voice out of that statement.....you CHOSE to DRINK. and you made that choice while SOBER.
we cannot control what happens WHEN we drink, but we can take control over our choice to NEVER drink again.
the money is gone babe. face it. own it.
can you now accept that for you drinking is no longer an option, PERIOD?

Sounds like a dangerous situation that could have been much worse.
Bite the bullet - check your account make sure it's secure...then sit yourself down and ask yourself if this is really the way you want your life to be.
what do you think is stopping you from making a permanent commitment to recovery?

I'm really sorry. I would encourage you to rip off the bandaid and check the account. Stay positive with the thought that you have your life and didn't get hurt. You can make the money back - let this be the final straw.
