Eliasson's Daily Accountability Thread
I've seen people doing this and thought I'd give it a try. Today is actually day 3 for me. Thursday night I blacked out once again and was a complete mess. I feel desperate at this point but maybe that's exactly where I'm supposed to be.
I did go to a women's meeting yesterday and then to breakfast with some of the ladies. I know I have lots of support but I also know it is ultimately up to me to take suggestions and do the work to hopefully gain a better life.
It's scary thinking of a life without alcohol, but scarier still is the thought of continuing the way I have been. I know I'm very close to being hospitalized. Or dead.
When I returned from the meeting my husband had removed all alcohol from the house. That is huge he has NEVER done that before. I felt a combination of relief and panic.
So here we go. Thank you for walking this journey out with me. See you on Day 4

Congratulations on 3 days Eliasson
I think getting rid of any alcohol in the house is a great idea, it was essential in my case
An accountability thread is a good thing in early recovery when we need every bit of incentive we can get

Finishing up Day 4. Had a couple of panicky moments. My brain just automatically thinks "wine" whenever I am even slightly uncomfortable with a situation or myself. I guess it will take some time to change that.
You can google it. It does work for me, not to say that it cures all my anxiety instantly but it does help me "catch my breath" so to say. Congrats on day 3!!
Btw.... Those feeling of wanting to reach for "wine" as soon as you start feeling panicky, will start to subside completely on their own the longer you stay sober. You're on your way now...... Don't stop! It gets sooo much better.

They say it also helps for falling asleep.

Day 5. It takes me a minute when I wake up to realize I'm not hurting or hungover and I am always so grateful. Things are starting to get a little clearer. I feel like I've spent years on the sidelines of life peering in through a very fuzzy window watching life happen. The window is not as fuzzy. Would love to get off the sidelines and start living life.

Hi Eli!!!
So glad to hear that you are feeling better. Nothing better that not feeling hungover. That was the worst for me.
I am also happy to see you posting in your thread. I am following you!!!
How's your plan looking?

Thank you Nowsthetime!
I've gone to 2 meetings in the last few days and am keeping in regular contact with my sponsor and other sober friends. Reading and posting here, as well as reading as much recovery material I can get my hands on.
Trying to stay grateful

Hi Eli:
Glad to hear about you. I like that your plan includes reading here. Don't forget to keep posting and to arm yourself with the "play the tape", HALT, urge surfing and to post before you drink. Coming here when I start to feel icky has helped many times.
Keep staying close. You are doing great!
