Sober Sunday! What is keeping you sober today?

For me it is the rediscovery of the inner peace that I carefully cultivated and nurtured in rehab. I thought I lost it this weekend when I was going through my homecoming stress. But it swept back into my life this morning during meditation. So happy!

How about you?

What's keeping me sober today?

ME! .... Honestly I'm on day 7 and I am feeling excited in away. .... Excited to be sober and feel good about myself. That is empowering for me today.

Faith, Hope & Love.

Faith in a Power greater than I,
God of my understanding and
up bringing could and would if
He was, were, is sought.

Hope that I've gained over the
past 25 yrs sober passed on to
me by many other fellow recoverying
members that have used a program
of recovery taught to us as a guideline
to incorporate in all areas of my life,
that if they could and would remain
sober and successful in their own
recovery lives then so could and would
I.

To carry love within my heart,
soul and mind, passing it on thru
my words and actions to those
in passing each day as I continue
to live my sober my sober life under
the umbrella of God's Love

Even after almost a year I still wake up every single day so grateful that I am not waking up sick and thank God for allowing me to build a new life. Heroin addiction and withdrawals brought me to my knees, but I will NEVER let it control me again.

As crazy as my mind works sometimes with alcohol, I was talking with my wife about my plans for today, I briefly thought about going to one of the large stores in the area to get beer and talk with the staff about new beverage products. I decided to get on here and make a post or two. Drinking on Sunday would be a huge step backwards for me.
My plan is to take a nice drive later and relax today. My toughest hours during the day are typically 1:00-4:30 PM. Thinking about going to a movie later tonight with my wife.
I feel good today, as I did not wake up coming off an alcohol binge yesterday.

After 60+ days, I'm starting to feel this odd sensation in my chest: it's my heart waking up. I think I'm starting to feel Love again. Amazing the positive things a heart will inspire you to feel and do.

Thanks SR Community.

What helps me stay sober is caring for my dogs and cats. Their love is a great reward for me.

Family

I'm in NYC with family tonight and although a long day - I committed to myself to be present for my family. Couldn't find a meeting today due to travel but I'll be downtown tomorrow and sure there'll be a number to choose from. Happy to be going to bed sober!

Didn't accomplish much today. Ate a few times.

Hung out w family.

Watched golf.

Didn't drink booze. That is not in my life anymore.

Not an option.

Getting better at just doing nothing.

Thanks for the post.

What's keeping me sober today is the sheer amazement that, even closing in on 90 days, that I am still seeing marked changes daily in my body and mind. I had 17 months before I relapsed and I remembered that it keeps getting better.

I just forgot exactly how better it keeps getting

So worth the tough times in the beginning!
