The Sugar Connection
I've been a member here under different names struggling for a long time. All of your support has been a godsend and has helped me through my journey when I needed it most. I recently read a book that helped me tremendously not only with my weight, but also changed my addiction with alcohol and the cravings. For the first 10 days, I had to give up caffeine, sugar, (alcohol), dairy and gluten. The first 3 days were difficult as your body withdrawals, but now I feel amazing at day 30. I did not crave alcohol since I started, which shocked me.
The reason I post this is that I want to inspire others, not to be branded as an addict - our bodies respond to substances like sugar and become addicted. It is possible to reset your body chemistry in a short period of time.
I am on day 30, I lost 14.6 pounds and don't crave alcohol, because I eliminated sugar out of my diet.
I just wanted to share this as I think there is a connection between alcohol and sugar. I no longer ingest sugar and I don't have alcohol cravings as a result. The book I read is http://drhyman.com/wp-content/upload...tion-FINAL.pdf.
This is not medical advice.
I just wanted to share this with my community- because I am proof that it works.

Thanks jsbodhi.
I posted this because I struggled so long and recently realized the connection. I had a sugar addiction starting in my youth long before alcohol took over.
Now I don't have either.
They feed each other.

Thank you behappy1.
I hope more people try this.
It worked for me- I was a hopeless cause who decided to try a 10 day experiment- that turned my world right side up.
I'm amazed.
Sugar is toxic

Yes jsbodhi - I suffered the candida as well. It affected my asthma , allergies etc. after the first week of sugar abstinence and the candida "die off", my skin is beautiful, the brain fog, stomach bloat and depression are gone. 40 years I suffered from this and eliminating sugar for only the last 30 days has changed it all.

Yes!!! It is toxic. Alcohol converts to sugar. I wish I could scream this across this website. The last 30 days without sugar/ alcohol made such a difference.
Without the label of alcoholic, I believe so many can benefit.
I hope others read my post and try this. It's only a 10 day test of eating whole foods and eliminating sugar, caffeine and dairy.
I feel amazing.

I know. That was my hesitation for not posting this sooner.
We don't have to be stuck with a label of being an addict.
Changes in my diet changed my addictive vice.
I hope others try this. It works, I am proof. I was an alcoholic for 15 years!

I agree. You get labeled or banned for 'medical advice'.
If only others knew that eliminating sugar is the key. My alcohol cravings were gone immediately. 15 years I struggled and labeled myself an addict and ran out of hope.

I wonder if we could start a dietary thread somewhere on here. I FIRMLY believe this info right here (maybe not this diet exactly) is a HUGE factor in alcoholism. That and the supplements that play a factor. That would be a very helpful thread full of info imho.
Yes I totally agree!

Oh my....Im posting things about myself on other threads- then went and ate my sons last cookie and some of his candy because Im having an AWFUL time with withdrawals- knowing I SHOULDNT eat sugar- and bam, I see this thread.
I havent had a drink since December- but just quit another substance which I think is making me crave sugar. I should have read this first.
