There is such a thing known as ascites than can occur due to drinking. However, it's best to let a doctor diagnose that.

Due to my anxiety I asked the doctor about this hw checked my stomach and said he felt no fluid. He also said I would be yellow.

I looked pretty bloated when I was drinking. Not 9 months pregnant, though. What does your dr mean when he said you would "be yellow"? The whites of your eyes?

So your doctor did suggest that the issue was caused by alcohol? Not exactly clear on your original post. Did he say anything more specific than that? If not you may want to see a different doctor if you can.

Sorry he said three months off the drink and I would feel much better. Thinks its ibs but they say that about everything. I think it is something more serious due to the fevers etc

My alcoholic aunt looked like that -- she also had a really erratic diet (due to her alcoholism). I recommend you continue to consult a dr but also quit drinking and start exercising.

I hope you feel better soon!

Edit to ask:

Tam,

My gym instructor says I looked like a snake that ate a huge object. So....yes.

I see pictures of me 2 years ago and now...on fb. The change is astonishing.

The poison works slowly. We heal much faster than it took to get damaged...thank God.

I also look 6-9 months pregnant from drinking and being overweight. People have actually asked me when is the baby due. So you are not alone in this problem. Some can also come from having an enlarged liver.

If you feel it's something more serious consider seeing a different doctor. How long has it been since you quit?

Also don't rule out your anxiety as a potential culprit if you do get checked out fine physically. Health anxiety is a very real condition, and it can be very strong in early sobriety, enough to even mimic the physical symptoms of many conditions.

You can ask your doc to do a bloodtest, which everyone really should do years to check and make sure everything looks ok. I had a very bloated stomach as well, and it for sure was from the drinking and mix with crappy food. Alcohol brings havoc to the body, including your stomach and digestive tract.

Perhaps need to see another Dr.
I've had that look, had 4 liters of fluid drained from my abdomen because my liver could no longer process the liquids. 4 liters.... Paracentisis. Think of a large bottle of soda, 2 of those. What more could have made me stop? I looked pregnant, I felt awful, quitting was the only answer.
