Hello Everybody!
Its a pleasure to be here, my life is going down the tubes. Everybody is mad at me, im in a ton of legal trouble. Im ready to stop, but I dont know how. Should I start a journal? How do I take the first steps to recovery?
Hi and welcome wil,
I had a major physical breakdown.
It caused at ton of fear. My first step was abstinence.
Fear was my initial motivation.
Then it was suffering. I still suffer, but not like day 1, 8, or 80.
It gets better obviously. My body has been racked by my alcohol abuse.
I try to help others as i continue to stay clean.
We here are all addicts. Some relapse. But, they start again.
Remember that you are addicted. That wil make all the hell yom may feel physically and mentally make sense.

Coming here is a great start. You can read about what others did to get sober and stay that way. For me it's a combination of this site, counseling in person with others I know in recovery, 12 step principles, prayer, meditation, journaling...
I think the one thing we all have in common , I think, is that we realized we needed others like us, in some way. We couldn't get sober on our own.
Welcome
