My short story

I am just coming off a month and a half alcohol binge that was about 3 liters of whiskey a week (which is on the heavier weeks) . Came from anxiety due to receiving DUI. I was only a weekend drinker before but the stress put me over the edge.

Last Thursday into Friday I consumed an extreme amount of alcohol and woke up the next day knowing I had to be done. Havent drank since Friday late night. It is now Monday and I have not slept really since. I have shakes and such, pretty bad anxiety.

How long do you think these symptoms will last. I have searched but most people on here involve much longer periods of heavy drinking.

Thanks in advance guys

It's hard to predict, since everyone is different.

One thing you could do to decrease the shakes and anxiety is go to a medical care clinic. In my neck of the woods, they are called "prompt care, or immediate care" and they get you in and out in a couple of hours. Go in and be honest, tell them you are trying to withdraw from alcohol after a period of heavy drinking and are having the shakes.

I did that a couple of times (slow learner here) and they took my blood pressure, listened to my heart, etc. and gave me a small prescription for valium which alleviated the shakes and anxiety.

Detoxing from alcohol is unpredictable and it's always a good idea to talk to your dr. I hope that you are able to get some rest soon.

Everyone has a different experience with withdrawals. Best advice is talk to a doctor or urgent care. For me personally, the first 2 times I had to be medically detox ed to hallucinations. 3rd time I did on my own, first 3 days sweats, anxiety, diarrhea and brain fog. Felt ok after day 5. This last time, I took a pill on day 1 and 2 and that was it. Ironically, this was the most I drank and I have been feeling amazing and I'm in day 12. Either way, good luck... we r all rooting for you.

Thanks everyone, I realize everyone is different so this is kind of a pointless question but your replies are still helpful
