Songs about addiction and recovery
https://youtu.be/-s5wPO-QcVw
This is a link to a song that I can relate to very well from when I was drinking. I would bet that many of you on here can relate too..
So glad I'm at 200 days sober today. Won't ever have to wake up hungover again.
Anyone else have any songs about recovery or Addiction they really like? I'm always on the lookout for new music.

I heard a song by Jimmy Buffet about sailing boats and cruising, not too far removed from addiction in some ways.
In it was the line "I'd rather die while I'm living, than live while I'm dead". To me that has great meaning in terms of life as a recovered alcoholic.

In the days before I made the jump and decided to take getting sober seriously, I listed to Kenny Chesney's "That's Why I'm Here" quite a bit.

Wow. That first video - just, wow. Yeah, too familiar. Though I usually left straight away and got sick at home. Nuts.
This one always makes me think of the f*cked up relationships I had while drinking - "Back to Black" - AW

And just for the summer -

So that one... When I was in my early 20's, we (meaning every musician in the city where I grew up) used to play that song acoustic around town. It was hard to make a living playing bars with a band there, so everyone used to work up acoustic sets for smaller bars and coffee shops for some extra money. Funny thing is, we all always spent that extra money at the bar, basically living out this song, before we even got on stage. That is the only job that I ever had where I was $100 in debt at the end of the night. Every night.

I don't know how to attach you tube links but I'm a fan of Stevie Ray Vaughn . I always thought" life by the drop" was about his personal battle with alcoholism . Not really sure but that is the meaning I take from it.

From the song "Reality"
The monster you're feeding,
your lack of perception
the things that you do
to fullfill your addictions.....
the light at the end of your tunnel is closing,
what is it that you're so afraid of exposing?
you'd give it all up for what's theirs for the taking,
whatever it takes to keep your hands from shaking.
the same things you're thinking might make you feel better
the same things that probably get you here....
