Angry Well that didn’t go well.

I had some summer vacation/time off for the last couple of weeks - and all these plans to hit a meeting every day – use my time wisely and amp up my recovery plan - blah blah blah.

Instead it ended up being mostly a sh*t sh*w because I decided to pick up a drink basically the first night.

What happened? Well in hindsight – I obviously wasn’t working my program to the best of my ability. I got caught off guard when I went to pick up a friend to go to a meeting on a Friday night and I was obsessing about drinking. So was she – and then she suggested we could have a “night off” and just “not tell anyone”. (But completely my responsibility and fault for going along with the plan.)

Of course then comes the series of slips trips and all-out falls for the entire period of my “vacation”, which I ultimately ruined! Nicely done NewLife! How much better would it have been if I had been sober and feeling healthy and taking care of myself for the whole time? SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH BETTER.

Anyways, I’m back, alive, and today is another day one. What is the plan?

STOP SCR*WING AROUND - WORK HARDER - MOVE FORWARD. (I’m yelling at myself).

What that looks like?
Get honest (which I'm doing here now)
Get back to a daily routine (call sponsor, do readings, pray – I’m an AA person).
Post every day in SR.
Go to a meeting every day.
Stop hanging out with people who are also struggling in their sobriety, to prevent re-occurrence of the above situation.

Other suggestions welcome. Glad to be "back" and grateful to be sober and alive for this 24 hours.

welcome back.

looks like your field research gave you a bunch more direct evidence about what choosing to drink brings you.

happy day one!!

Glad your feeling better and going to get over your slip up. I have been trying to quit for 2 years and have not had more than 9 days off it.

Usually one day off five days on so you are doing better than me, keep up the good work.

All of those activities in your plan are good, but you might consider actually articulating the part about "not drinking alcohol". I'm glad you're taking charge and hope to read that day by day, week by week you're sober and moving towards healthy!

BTDT - that "one more time" doesn't work so well. Glad you're back on track!

Day two feels SO MUCH BETTER than day one. Do I feel 100%? Heck no - not even close, but I actually slept last night (suprisingly.....) so what a difference.

Super happy to be sober and alive.
