Sunday morning and I'm sitting on my porch, again!

I usually lay in bed until 11.00 am recovering from too much alcohol, feelings of guilt coursing through my veins and furtively making my way down stairs to see who I have offended and who is not happy with me. Not today though, not this Sunday morning. I feel great sitting on my beautiful porch listening to the birds sing and the beginning sounds of human activity. Today I will take another bike ride with my daughter and do a workout!

What is it about alcoholics? When we stop for even a few short days we feel so much better and actually enjoy things life has to offer us. It makes no sense that we then pick up the bottle and ruin everything. It is a life-sucking habit(or disease ).

Last night my daughter didn't ask me if I had been drinking - good times......

Nice! You're so right about the insanity of alcoholic thinking...I have to keep reminding myself that it just ruins everything.

Nice!!!

I'm enjoying my second cup of coffee. Getting ready to go get me daughter (she has been at grandparents all week) and take her to a birthday party. I'm going to be present and enjoy every second watching her have little girl fun. So special.

You are so right. Getting up feeling great is amazing. So worth it!!!

I'm happy to hear your positive tone!!!

Thank you for the responses SR comrades! I'm sticking close to this site to keep me on the straight and narrow. I've been here several times before but get quite blasé about it all when I'm sober for a while - then it falls apart. This time I hope I know better! Have a great and sober day all.

There are so many gifts in sobriety and the longer we are sober the more gifts come

Congrats! Waking up refreshed and ready to start the day, rather than hung over, full of shame and regret, is one of the best feelings in the world.
