Detoxing again. Not sure i can hold out

Withdrawal has just hit me hard. I'm alone in my bedroom and too scared to ask family for help because I don't want to deal with them realising just how bad the problem is and getting really worried or angry. Would it be easier to detox with their help better tomorrow when I can just tell them what's going on in a more controlled way? It's 6am here and I'd have to wake up my mum and she'd freak out

Hi solow!

I think the best thing to do would be to go to the hospital or see a doctor. Detox can be dangerous, especially if you are alone and nobody can call for help.

I have just read your post solow - how are you feeling now? If you are still in a bad way it might be advisable to pay a visit to A & E just to be on the safe side

Hi solow.

I know how you're feeling, been there many times myself. Please see a doctor for some help for the anxiety/withdrawals. It's the only way I've ever managed to get through. Hope you're OK today.

Hi solow , I agree with the above advice and know how you feel .
You don't need to do this alone , as a parent myself I would feel better if any of mine came to me for help . If you feel ill please get medical help .

Thank you everyone. I made it. Still feeling very shaky, anxious and weak but I'm over the hill and I'm up and about and know i can do this now. I'm going to a local recovery centre tomorrow first thing to get some help. It's been a very rough 24 hours but I'm ready to take this chance at freedom

Solow, I'm glad you're feeling better. You never have to go through this again.

Yes, I agree with getting some help if you think you need it.... Just another bit of advice.... Don't be surprised if it hits again like it did or worse. This is not to scare you, but just to make you aware (depending on how long you've been drinking) you might have another hill or two coming. Don't be discouraged if this happens though, you've proved you can get through it. Wishing you well, keep us posted if you can.

I'm still sober and experiencing a lot more energy and positivity for the moment although I know how this can go and I won't be getting complacent.

I registered with a local recovery organisation who immediately referred me for counselling, will be assigning me a key worker to keep tabs on my progress and have a range of group activities on all week to get involved with. It's all free, thank god for the NHS.

Sounds like you are doing a bit better, good for you. Keep at it you'll be ok and most importantly keep posting, it really does help talking with other people that don't judge.
