Yes, I have been through this. But, guess what? Of course he had to find a replacement for you ASAP! He NEEDS to have an enabler in his life. Maybe he seems "happy", but this is just a facade. He is not in a recovery program and continues to use (even if it isn't very often, which I doubt, and I am sure he is hiding his use from his new victim), just be thankful that this isn't your life anymore. I know it hurts. It hurts worse than anyone could imagine, but I think it hurts more when you realize that you couldn't make him happy. No person is that powerful. She (the new GF) is not that powerful either. In time, all will be revealed to her as well.
