Question about withdrawal
My ex A's sister in law called me yesterday. She said since I broke up with him (last week), he has come into work smelling like alcohol. I wondered if this was normal when A's detox or if it's probably what I'm assuming - he's drinking at work or coming in drunk. The latter will make me very sad. I heard there's some kind of odor when a person detoxes and I was curious what anyone's thoughts are on this? A secret part of me hoped my leaving would make him hit rock bottom and try. Not that I would run back to him. I do care what happens to him. Any thoughts?

Not normal in my experience at all - he only had that odor while actively drinking & his body was trying to metabolize the toxin as fast as possible. The smell of alcohol is due to the active presence of alcohol in his system.

Trust what your intuition is telling you.
That part of you that was "hoping" he would quit when you announced you were leaving him..........that's a manipulation part of you that needs to understand we can't fix them or love them sober or force them to hit a rock bottom because everyone's rock bottom is very different.
