Day 2

Day 2 of being sober. I actually slept last night, had horrible, vivid dreams of alcohol. Woke up still exhausted and could sleep all day (i wish I could). I have to return to work today, after a long run of calling out, and I am terrified. I have the shakes and my heart is racing/pounding and I'm not even there yet. I just have a feeling when they confront me, I'll go in to a panic attack. Trying to just breathe for now. I hope I make it through the day without being fired. One day at a time, I guess

Yes, try and keep calm. Deep breathing will help.

Try and stay hydrated, AllTooWell, Eat a little something if you can manage.

I hope the day passes quickly for you, and all drama is avoided.

The fear/terror is false. It is from the alcohol, try to remain calm. Deep breathing, mentally prepare. Don't drink. You will be fine. Another 48 hours and you'll feel human again.

Sometimes all that we can do is to pray for peace of mind.
Then, take a deep breath and trust in that prayer.
It all works out for the best if we just don't drink today.
For most reaching a calm place in sobriety takes much work and time.
We'll worth the good fight.

Just wanted to update. Got to work. And everything at work is fine. It's calmed me down a lot. I feel like I can tackle this detox head on now. Thanks for all the support. Can't wait for another restful night of sleep

AllTooWell - I was exhausted for the first couple weeks. We've put our bodies through a lot. I hope you'll be able to get a good rest. Congrats on your Day 2 - you're doing great.

Hi AllTooWell

Let us know how it goes. Getting sober in the early days is rough but it will ease up after a bit.

I know all about the returning to work fears, there are too many times I just said forget it and drank again just to not have to face it. I couldn't even remember my lies half the time. I'm on day 2 now as well, hoping for sleep and will try to calmly face work in the morning.

Good job and keep it up!
