Overwhelming 'ain't it
Hi all...this is my first time posting on any forum, but I've been hanging around and it seems really supportive.
I work with kiddo's at high risk of suicide and overdose. The funny piece of this (not really funny) is that my use of alcohol has really crept up on me. I've found myself saying things like "it's ok, I'm not blackout drunk" or "I'm able to work next day no probs". Yet I was drinking every night and feeling really anxious if there was no booze in the house.
So I made a choice...I was open with the dr and have been 25 days sober.
Well hello emotions...just learning to sit with them again rather than drink them over.
I look forward to using this forum for support and hopefully give some in return
Cheers

Glad you are here--I also had a lot of feelings come up when I first quit.
I think I drank to drown them. . . sitting with them is the way to set them free,
or it was for me.
I also did a brief round of cognitive therapy to get through some of the really
hard ones. . . journaling is another strategy I use.
