That's how the ball bounces...

Sometimes, when I am at home alone, possibly bored, frustrated, and my mind starts spinning tales of "woe is me", I take this small beach ball that I have, and play a game where I bounce the ball off an empty wall in my house, using my fists, and try to keep it going as long as I can. In addition to making me feel like a kid again, and being mildly taboo (I was never allowed to bounce a ball in the house), it is quite a lot of fun and gets my heart rate up. Plus, you can't think of anything else while you're doing it. You have to be in the moment, and keep your eyes on the ball. Just like sobriety. And life

So keep your eyes on the ball. And don't break any lamps

Awesome. Kind of like my adult coloring books....but with less potential for damage. And I find I don't think of anything.....just stay within the lines, now what color? Big stuff!

I have some friends that do those, the ones that have various patterns like mandalas? Never tried it myself, but I read somewhere that coloring them is almost as good as meditating. I think of them as a modern version of those Buddhist sand paintings. Pretty cool

Does sound like fun. The biggest thing I took away from it was "don't break the lamps!" Oh boy, can I relate to that.

Yes indeed. You must remain "mindful" of where the ball is at all times, so to speak

Also...the "don't break any lamps" thing...I just thought of this, Buddha said something to his disciples like "Be lamps unto yourselves." So don't break yourself, either!
