Waves and waves of cravings

I'm really struggling tonight. It's bad. I don't know what brought this on but it has been building slowly for a few days and tonight It has come crashing in. I'd kill for wine right now. No, tonight I'd drink whisky straight. The stronger the better. I am staying strong for now but really having a hard time. I have nothing sweet to eat. I don't know what to do. I really regret not picking up a little cake or something on the way home. The bad news is the kids are in bed so I can't go out. The good news is the kids are in bed so I can't go out. I did find an old box of cooking wine. It would be disgusting and not nearly enough to satisfy me. I'm going to go dump it. I should have done it earlier before it got so bad.

Just me but I wouldn't go near it. The sight and smell would be enough to cave in. Stay strong and busy with something.

Any idea what prompted this? PLEASE leave the cooking wine alone...it will wake up the monster.

Big hug.

I found it today when cleaning my pantry, back behind rarely used spices. I had cleared my house of all alcohol when I returned from rehab, missed this one.

I don't know AA, I can't really think straight right now. It's been coming for days though. I'm going to try and watch a film now.

I KNOW you can do this too. Look how far you've come. You know this will pass in a little time. Wishing you strength and patience till it does.

Stay strong

I was just going to write what Hawkeye did. Something sweet. And get rid of the bad stuff. When it's gone, you won't be thinking about it.

You can do this, Mera.

That's my girl!

In dog training, there's something they call the "extinction burst." Say you've been rewarding a dog changing an unwanted behavior over and over and just before it changes permanently, there's this weird short time where they go completely over the top on doing the crappy behavior...ergo, the extinction burst.

Your AV is just having a last whopping tantrum. Send it to its room.

You can do it. Drinking will make the cravings worse, not better. It's like scratching chicken pox!

Saying some prayers, even to the universe, for strength to get through this sober helps me

Paper and pencil or pen and just start writing: "I feel __________ because of ______" and just write. Do NOT read it, just keep writing.

Also, "I fear ___________because of ________" and write it out, again, Do Not Read it now!

Eat something sweet. Clean something. Watch a funny something (you tube has great News Anchor Bloopers which give me belly laughs!

Thank the Universe for being alive and sober today. Most of us die drunk or from some drunk experience.

Then write 5 things you are grateful for today.

Stay sober, Mer!!!!!

p.s. Next time, on another day, when you have a craving, read what you wrote today.
