Raleigh Ironman 70.3 This Weekend

Almost 5 years sober and so grateful for SR even though I haven't been here in ages!! My husband is driving me from Atlanta to Raleigh for an Ironman event that I will be doing this weekend. Life is so much better sober then drink!!

Good luck! I did that one last year. That final stretch to the finish line is a fabulous set up!

that's awesome! How was it? And what made you know you were ready to move up to that distance? I started doing sprint tri's two years ago. I'm sidelined temporarily from it - I had one scheduled his weekend and my first century ride I three weeks - dealing with some health issues though. I'm determined to get back to it and get some redemption - and I wonder if/when I'll tackle longer distances between working full time and two active kids.

So I have done 2 70.3 distances in the past. This one was the hardest and I DNQ in the swim. The first half a mile was awesome!! The last half was so choppy and windy they pulled 32 people from the swim. I was able to finish but my time blew! That is okay because the event is just the reward for my training. I have an Olympic in 3 weeks and am looking at another 70.3 later in the season. Just not IM branded they are expensive!
