6 Weeks - Imagine

Today I have been sober for 6 weeks (43 days).

I want to mark this date with this thread. I know there are many folks here that have gone longer and some are struggling to make it just 1 day.

There is no magic dust to sprinkle to make us sober. It takes determination.... I had to completely change my way of thinking.

I am now catching a buzz from life.... no more pain, no more guilt, no more aches from the damage to my mind and body caused by drinking.

I am a better person .. period.

congrats, easy2slip!! I agree about determination vs magic dust -- it does take work, but it can be done! Good for you and thanks for checking in.

What I meant was this.... Change my way of thinking. I used to think everything was "better" when I drank or caught a buzz. I really thought that,.... Heck I'd get up in morning and pour some whiskey into my coffee.... maybe some vodka in my OJ.

Now I don't think like that....

I changed my thoughts to --
"What will happen when I drink some whiskey for breakfast?"

My thoughts now.... oh man, if I do that, I will end up ruining my day. I will let myself down. I will smell like booze.... I will ruin my 6 weeks sober. I won't get to do my 3 mile walk today. Mainly, I will get sick again and end up going down the ugly path as I was before.

That is what I meant.... I hope this helps.

Thanks everyone for the positive messages!
