Hello everyone! I missed you guys. I also missed sobriety. So here I am to do this again and do it right this time.

Any tips on how to detox at home?

Welcome back csaw. Detoxing at home can be dangerous, you should really see a doctor first.

I have no medical advice on how to detox.

But for me.... I did it the old fashioned way. I stayed in bed for 3 days and drank tons of water. Sipped soup and crackers. Watched a lot of movies.... It wasn't easy the first days. But rode it out and now 40 days later feeling 110% awesome.

You should really see a doctor first or very least have someone at home with you..

I took a couple multivitamins with lots of water and a milkshake. Think I'm gonna roll with that for a while.

I have social anxiety, which drove my alcoholism. Took me awhile to open up in AA. You don't have to do anything if you don't feel comfortable. Just go and listen to start.

What has been your recent drinking amounts and frequency? Home detox could be tricky.

I drink every night from the time i leave work till i go to bed or pass out on the couch. Usually a pint of vodka +a couple beers. On my days off i drink all day, couldt tell ya how much.
I had to call in sick this morning because of a worse than usual hangover, and I'm feeling really bad about that as if the hangover itself isn't bad enough.
I'm actually feeling ok at the moment im just worried about tonight.

No advice on detox i'm afraid, for me it was water and OJ. Don't be surprised if you have trouble sleeping to begin with, it is very common.

Good luck csaw

Today will be my third meeting. I was terrified of the first one, SR members talked to me about it and I went.

I wanted to throw up when I went in, but I'm so glad I did. I wad nervous last night and nervous for tonight, but I'm going. It truly helps.

Everyone has been so kind, welcoming, and said they remembered what I'm feeling.

You can do it! Even if not today, soon.

I should probably give it a shot, just trying to get past the awkwardness.

If you truly want to get sober and make it last, you will most likely need to try something. Sobriety is much more than just "not drinking" and taking some multivitamins and a milkshake.

Is there someone that will be with you tonight that can call for help if you need it? Those are some pretty large amounts you've been drinking to just go cold turkey.

I would highly recommend that, if you don't plan on seeking any medical help at this time make sure someone can on your behalf if you need it. Let him know what you are doing so he can check on you.

I must figure out how to cope with this boredom. Today is my day off and normally i would have been drunk for hours by now. But i dont feel like doing anything except lay here.

Boredom is a state of mind, whether you are drunk or not. Drinking doesn't change your options for "things to do" - in fact it narrows down what you can do.

Read this thread if you haven't...a load of good suggestions for things to keep you busy
