Day 5!!

OK, so I made it 5 days with only finding myself on the way to the liquor store once..... ( BUT I turned around and went home)

Had a great weekend with friends who don't drink occupying my time shopping, cooking, watching movies, etc, and felt great!!! Slept like a million bucks the last 4 days, which is more then I can say for the last 5 years.

Today, I woke up feeling antsy, anxious, etc. I had very restless sleep last night, the most bizarre dreams, and back in my "funk" it feels like.

Have any of you ever felt like this? Maybe I am just coming off of a good weekend "high" since I was around people and now I am home alone?

Way to go on 5 days and getting through the weekend sober.

Yeah..... I felt antsy and anxious in the beginning. Also felt kinda "hyper" at times. I equated it too detox and that my brain was repairing itself.

It gets much better and clearer in a little more time.

Congratulations on 5 days. Awesome!

For sure, I know exactly how you are feeling. I just posted in my thread that I was feeling this way yesterday for a few hours. At 5 days it could still be detox related stuff, anxiety. For me it happens all the time....no matter where I am in recovery. Its fear based anxiety.

Either way, it does pass. When I sleep crappy one night, I usually sleep well the next. And the dreams? Very normal.

when i gave up drinking i found that "funks" passed quicker the further i got from my last drink .

Persevere , it's worth it .

Maybe do some research as to how others deal with it .

keep on

It would be great if recovery was a straight line and every day we felt better and better...but it's not like that

Just like life, you'll have good days and no so good day, especially in early recovery.

Keep the faith - like Mech said the funks do seem to pass quicker now...

never doubt you're on the right road
