In trouble now

One of my AA buddies is getting married today and a large gang of my male AA friends will be there with their normal drinking wives. Oh boy it should be interesting when they start comparing notes about their alcoholic husbands

Mir, you are so funny.

Being an ex a spouse, they will compare notes.
They will thank God that their spouses are all sober!
Have fun my friend!!

I talked to the Groom/Alcoholic a few months ago and he was unsure. He refused to pay for it but there was some kind of legal hassle about a cash bar. He was really on the fence about the whole alcohol issue. If the roles were reversed I'm not sure what I would do. We are the ones who have the problem and it is not up to us to control the drinking of others. All of the invited AA people have long term sobriety so it would not be a problem either way

This is the beauty of sobriety. So happy for a sober friend I have known for almost 7 years. He will be surrounded by people that would do anything for him. I'm especially close to him because he gave me a coin that I kept with me throughout my daughters battle with cancer and the very dark days after her death. I gave the coin away to someone else that was struggling more than myself

So many memories so much friendship. To be able to rejoice in another's happiness is a gift

You are Ina good place, so you'll have fun! If the wives gang up, it will probably be all in good fun. I suspect there will be a ton of gratitude and live that night.

I got married at 2.5 years sober, and I'm 100% certain that it would not have happened if I was still drinking. Our "reception" was at a restaurant, so people who wanted to drink bought it themselves. At our Ohio reception, there was beer and wine, but they were separated. Nobody got drunk, go figure. Normies
